Which Circuit 2 ticket should you choose?
For a first visit, Get to Machu Picchu recommends Route 2-A. It provides a classic-style viewpoint and continues through the urban citadel, making it the closest match to the Machu Picchu experience most first-time travelers expect. Route 2-B is an official lower-terrace alternative, but Get to Machu Picchu does not currently sell it.

The Ministry lists 2-A as the Designed Route and 2-B as the Lower Terrace Route within Circuit 2.
What is Machu Picchu Circuit 2?
Circuit 2 is the Classic Circuit. It is designed for travelers who want both a recognizable Machu Picchu viewpoint and access through important parts of the urban site.
It does not include Huayna Picchu, Machu Picchu Mountain, the Sun Gate or the Inca Bridge. Those require different route-specific tickets.

Circuit 2-A vs 2-B: what is the real difference?
Route 2-A is officially called the Designed Route. Route 2-B is officially called the Lower Terrace Route. Both belong to Circuit 2 and both include a route through the urban citadel, but their viewpoint positions and walking routes are different.
Get to Machu Picchu offers Route 2-A only. We selected it because it provides the classic-style viewpoint and urban citadel experience that most first-time customers are looking for.

Does Route 2-A include the classic Machu Picchu view?

Every Route 2-A permit is issued for a specific date and entry time. Entry groups and availability can change, so Get to Machu Picchu displays current Route 2-A availability on the live booking calendar.

How quickly do Route 2-A tickets sell out?
Route 2-A is in strong demand because it closely matches what many first-time travelers expect from Machu Picchu. Availability is controlled separately for every date and entry time.
If Route 2-A is unavailable, first check another entry time or a nearby date. Get to Machu Picchu also offers Huayna Picchu Route 3-A and Machu Picchu Mountain Route 1-A for travelers whose priorities match those experiences. Route 2-B has separate official inventory but is not currently sold by Get to Machu Picchu.

Check another entry time or a nearby date first. If the classic experience is unavailable, Huayna Picchu (Route 3-A) and Machu Picchu Mountain (Route 1-A) are alternatives with different priorities. We only confirm a booking when we can secure the complete entry, train and bus, and if we cannot, you receive a full refund.
Not currently. Route 2-B, the Lower Terrace Route, is an official Circuit 2 route with separate inventory, but our packages use Route 2-A. If that changes, we will show it on the booking calendar.
The entry permit covers admission only. The train from Ollantaytambo and the mountain bus from Machu Picchu Pueblo, also called Aguas Calientes, are separate tickets. Our package includes all three.
