Frequently asked questions

How far in advance does Machu Picchu sell out?

Machu Picchu tickets often sell out weeks or months in advance, especially in the peak season from June to November. For the most popular circuits and dates we recommend booking at least two to three months ahead to be safe.

Do sold-out dates ever reopen?

Sometimes. Cancelled and unpaid tickets can be released back into the official system, but it is uncommon and we cannot predict it. Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain reopen often enough that we run a waitlist for them. Classic circuit dates almost never come back once sold, so if Classic matters to you, book an open date rather than wait for a sold-out one.

Which circuit sells out first?

Huayna Picchu sells out first and fastest because it has the smallest daily capacity of the three circuits. If climbing Huayna Picchu matters to you, book as early as you can, often around four months ahead.

What should I do if my date is sold out?

Move your date. Shifting by a day or two opens up availability more often than a sold-out date reopening does. For Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain you can also join the waitlist below as a second chance, but treat a nearby open date as the real answer.
